I believe there have been many people, many events, many troubles, and
many situations that have helped shape my beliefs over the years. For
all those people, events, troubles, and situations I am extremely
grateful! There is one that I want to write about now though, because
without God leading me to this particular event or movement I would not
be writing this blog right now. The movement I am talking about is
called the 268Generation/Passion Conferences. It is a movement among
college age people that was started by Louie Giglio and this movement
is about the Son of God being exalted and receiving all the fame on the
planet!
At Passion 07 in Atlanta, GA, Louie gave a talk called An After
Party For All Nations. This talk forever changed something within me.
In his talk, Louie gave us a bit of a challenge to pack up the American
Dream and trade it in for a Kingdom role in His global story. He said,
“If God is doing something that no one can stop, I kinda want to be in
on it.” I did not know that a single sentence could hit me so hard! God
IS going to let this WHOLE world know about His glory and who He is. No
one can stop Him and with or without our help, He will be made famous!
He is already famous, but their are places in this world that have
not heard about His fame, much less experienced it for themselves. This
is where we come in! Matthew 24:14 says, “And the Good News about the
Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that ALL
nations will hear it; and then, FINALLY, the end will come. The bible
says the end will not come until ALL nations have heard about Good News
of the Living Saviour, Jesus Christ! It is our job to take that Good
News to the nations who have no clue about this God that we love and
serve! It is time to pack up the American Dream that says we need a
brand new car, a fancy job, and fancy things. If that is all we live
for our lives will be so meaningless.
We are so spoiled here in North America and we think that the world
revolves around us but it doesn’t! This world revolves around The
Creator of it! There are 6.5 billion people in this world and 6 billion
of them DON’T speak English! God is such a creative God! Such a HUGE
God! There are 16,000 people groups and 6,800 of them are unreached!
Yet we have the word of God at our fingertips every day and so often
fail to open it and allow it to shed light into our lives.
God has opened my heart and mind to the fact that this life is not
about me. This life is meant for me to bring glory to His name, to let
His fame and His renown shine brighter than anything. He did not say it
would be easy, but He did say He would be with me through it all! We
just have to know that He is going with us! It can be so tempting to
fall into the typical American Dream and just let our lives pass by.
This life here on earth is SO short! Why not make it count for
something?
